NEW ORLEANS (WGNO)—Local artist Terrance Osborne is reimagining the unusual banana art installation that sold for $6.2 million.
Artist Maurizio Cattelan’s art piece called, “The Comedian,” sold for $6.2 million at a Sotheby’s auction in New York. The art installation is unusual because it is a real, edible banana duct taped to the wall.
Why did I paint this banana?
“I believe that the artist who created and sold this banana is playing with the idea that what is considered “art” has value only when a huge price is placed on it.
I painted this piece to poke fun at the process as well but also to turn this idea into actual art.” -Terrance Osborne
